Is Soy Formula Easier To Digest?

Is soy formula easier to digest? Discover why this question conjures up images of the super hero Wonder Woman breast feeding her baby. Learn why we do not question our heroes.
Food scientists have done it again. Their hands transformed the soybean plant into a super hero protector of baby food. Bad guy beat downs of food security problems by super soybeans overshadow other discussions.
A straightforward consideration of digestibility of soybeans by humans can scarcely penetrate our consciousness.
What Is Digestion?
Digestibility of soy, or any eaten material, is ultimately affected by whether material can be physically digested. Digestibility is also affected by whether digestion blocking substances are contained in food in high amounts.
The human body, for instance, cannot digest a diamond. A diamond does not contain blockers of the digestive process such as acid neutralizers. It is literally too hard to digest. So a diamond passes through the human digestive tract.
Digestion depends on thorough physical and chemical breakdown of food, and depends on water and nutrient absorption. Teeth, saliva, stomach, liver, pancreas, and gall bladder all play a role. Intestines extract water along with nutrients.
The end goal involves removing nutrients and water from food to nourish the body. A straightforward laboratory examination should settle this digestibility debate. But it does not.
Soybean Usefulness Clouds Digestibility Debate
Soybeans are so useful that people tend to ignore questions about soy digestibility. Soybean based baby formula provides a substitute food for some babies. Especially benefited are babies with an ethnic heritage from central and east Asia, and equatorial regions around this planet.
These cannot tolerate or fully digest milk sugar. Lactose is milk sugar. Soybean formula does not contain milk sugar. Certain babies do well to drink it. Parents who see their baby feeding on soy may not believe digestion is a relevant concern.
Other facts cloud the debate about digestion. The strong body of human babies hides the effects of poor digestion. Some parents do not know symptoms of poor digestion. Our human species has survived thousands of years eating readily available foods. Humans find alternatives to human breast milk whenever human breast milk becomes unavailable. Yet our human species survives.
Some human infants have allergic reactions to animal milk but not to soy based formula. Soybean is a plant. Soy substitute is so popular that one in five parents in Canada and in the U. S. A. Use an alternative soy milk product for infants. Certain foods a baby eats yield more nutrition while others yield less. Sometimes the only option families have is to feed the meal that the baby will not react badly to with less regard for its nutrition.
As long as soybeans act like a super hero and keep opening cans of whip are on heretofore unsolvable baby food problems, people are not overly concerned with soy digestibility. We parents, food shoppers, taxpayers, health food advocates, and doctors are citizens living in a city that our super hero protects. We can question our heroes. We should question their methods. Human nature, nevertheless, sometimes does not concern itself with all that it trades away for food security today.
