Choosing Formula for Babies

The use of formula for babies has become popular throughout the world. This is used for children as an alternative to their mother’s breast milk. Although breast feeding is still best advised by any physician, there are a number of different reasons why most parents would still opt to give their children other milk products.

Infant formula is commonly made from cow’s milk. There are other variations where soy is the base of the milk product; this is meant for children who are lactose intolerant and those who develop colic as infants.

The nutritional value varies from one brand to the other; some use a hundred percent of whey protein while others use a combination of whey and casein proteins.

While many makers of formula for babies find different ways to make their product as close to breast milk as possible, there is still no substitute for the real thing.

As infants require a great deal of fat requirement, there are some products which contain palm olein oil as its major component. Infants need fat to help them grow as much as they need protein and calcium.

The FDA has set specific standards which milk manufacturers must meet in order to make their product safe and efficient to use. The different brands of formula for babies should be able to provide its consumers with the daily nutritional value children require.

There are some products which has added nutrients of which make their product a better market choice. Some has more strains of DHA and ARA as well as Omega 3 and 6 which are great sources for better brain development and a stronger immune system.

There are also some milk products which promote higher or fortified levels of calcium, iron, taurine and other nutrients not usually found in powdered formula.
